Product Details

Gum in Arabic is a gelatinous exudate obtained from the branches of the Arabic tree or closely related acacia species, which naturally solidifies when exposed to air. It appears as a light white to pale yellowish-brown translucent block, with a molecular weight ranging from 220,000 to 300,000. This natural gum is odorless, tasteless, and flammable. When mixed with water, it gradually forms an acidic, viscous solution, though its viscosity decreases over time. Its water solubility is about 50% (WN), while it remains insoluble in ethanol. As the world’s oldest and most renowned natural gum, its usage can be traced back 5,000 years to ancient Egypt. Over the centuries, its applications have expanded significantly, particularly in the realm of food additives.

Gum in Arabic is a safe, non-toxic food additive with no maximum usage limit. In Europe, it is often referred to as “desert gold.” It finds wide application in beverages, baked goods, dairy products, health foods, and more, where it functions as a stabilizer, emulsifier, and a source of dietary fiber.
